: Weight Loss Reduces Your Chances for Breast Cancer

Weight loss is constantly being researched. When was the last time you tried to "fix" your weight without seeing a nutritionist or your doctor, or tried a fad diet because it worked for someone you know? Everyone at one point or another tries something to gain or lose weight, so when a new report by the American Society of Clinical Oncology releases a report about weight loss connected to breast cancer, it's big news.
The findings of head researcher, Dr. Ann McTiernan, show that losing a little weight can reduce the production of certain hormones known to cause breast cancer. However, Dr. McTiernan elaborates further by saying this study is only applicable to obese and overweight women and those who are not taking any hormone replacement medication. Usually women who are on hormonal replacement therapy are at their menopausal stage or pre-menopausal stage. The hormones help them deal with hot flashes and bone density loss.
In summary, Dr. McTiernan says exercise and eating vegetables, fiber, and fruits reduce fat and lower the levels of blood estrogen which are known to lead to breast cancer. Even women in their 60s and 70s can avoid this type of cancer by following a healthy diet and exercising.
The findings do not include men who can also get breast cancer or women who are just a few pounds overweight. In addition, the good doctor says that a 5% weight loss will give a person a bigger leeway but does not mean a guarantee that breast cancer will not occur. There are other causes for this type of cancer such as genetics and lifestyle.
Other Findings
As in all medical research, this study also takes into consideration the form of weight loss program each participant uses. For Dr. McTiernan, exercise is the best way to drop pounds without adverse effects. Other methods would be changing one's diet and nutrition and sticking to natural ingredients instead of those peppered with preservatives.
From another point of view, there are many experts who believe that getting to one's ideal weight is a matter of discipline and taking the right kind of supplements. Many people have a difficult time losing weight because they just don't like to take up a sport, sweat, or go to a gym, especially those who are overweight. The reality is that the first few steps to losing weight are the hardest. The spirit may be willing but the body bogs down fast and that is depressing. It is so frustrating that many have resorted to taking diet pills or starvation because it's easier.
No Effort, No Results
Another reality in losing weight is mind over matter. You just need to find one reason to drink that supplement or run that extra round. The fact that those who drop pounds can sleep easier about breast cancer is icing on the cake.
At the end of the day, a person has to stop taking drugs because it renders them immune to the drug's efficiency. One must also consider turning to natural means for weight loss and consider an option that may also open doors for more lifestyle and income opportunities.
