By Bethy Mashef

Most people are used to consuming sugar every day. This is because they think it is important to include it in the diet. However, this is not true. The body can produce the sugar it requires from the proteins and carbohydrates it consumes. This means that you do not have to eat cookies and candy bars all the time. According to research a diet that has a high amount of fructose such as some sugars and corn syrup contributes to diabetes and obesity.

A lot of fructose in the body is known to cause metabolic syndrome in people and animals as well. This is a collection of factors that increase your chances of developing cardio vascular diseases, diabetes and other illnesses. If you compare two diets, one that has high levels of fructose and another that contains starch you will find that the former leads to fat accumulation around the body.

It is alright to consume fruits and other natural foods such as honey. They have natural sugars which are not harmful in the body. Added sugars are the problem. Artificial sugar is found in most processed foods such as ketchup and ice cream among others.

Most foods that are processed have artificial flavors that are not recommended for your body. If you consume an apple or an orange you get photo-nutrients, fiber, vitamins as well as minerals that are essential for the body. Fructose is also found in fruits. However, the amount found in fruits is very low and it cannot cause problems to your health. Even if you consume a couple of fruits you will only get fibers and very little sugar.

On the hand one soda has a lot of sugar that is not healthy for you. There are many artificial flavors that do not help the body in any way and very few nutrients if any. It is therefore advisable to include fruits in your die because they are the healthier choice.

Some time back sugar was expensive and only rich people could afford it. Nowadays, it is cheap and most food processors prefer to add it to their foods because it is cheaper than flour. Artificial sweeteners are used in many products such as yogurt, ketchup, sodas and many others. It is wise to avoid sugars because they flood your body with glucose.

Glucose in turn changes to fat. A lot of fat leads to inflammation of the arteries. This contributes to heart problems, diabetes and obesity. Most processed foods contain sugars and the more you take them the higher the chances of being unhealthy. If you already have a lot of fat in the body it is advisable to undertake an exercise program to improve your well being.

If you already have fat in your body you can get rid of it though a couple of activities. Burn down the fat by engaging in exercises and other physical activities. A healthy diet will also help you to improve your well being. Avoid foods that are processed because they have a lot of added sugars. Focus on getting natural food which is healthier. Watching the food you eat will allow you to stay free of heart problems, diabetes and obesity.
