Oprah & Her Foray Into Growing Organic Crops

By Rob Sutter

When an action receives support from someone famous in the media, it seems like it receives a great boost. Growing organic crops has become one such action recently and a certain big name is making sure that this happens. I don't think that anyone needs an introduction to Oprah Winfrey, so I will leave all of the formalities to the side. It's apparent that she has stepped foot into the area of farming and now I'm curious as to what the results of this will be.

An article on Pacific Business News talked about how Oprah would get into growing organic crops thanks to the work done on her farm in Upcountry Maui. Not only does she have the means to produce an array of vegetables but a few names were already tossed out into the open. Such titles as "Oprah's Organics" and "Oprah's Harvest" have become registered trademarks. This level of work is great and one deserving of attention from networks on the matter such as Colle Farmers Market.

It's clear that Oprah's charitable nature had come into play, as beforehand she was giving away the food that was grown on the farm. However, a close friend of Oprah's, Bob Greene - a fitness expert - said that the selling will occur in time. I think that this idea has a great deal of potential, not only because of Oprah's name value but the value seen in going organic as well. However, I can't help but to have my concerns as far as this matter is concerned, too.

In order for this to be the most effective venture Oprah's has gone on, she has to make sure that the crops are sold at affordable prices. It was recently reported that Prince Charles of Wales had to close down his own market because the prices were ones that not many people could have afforded. Business cannot happen if the revenue doesn't come in. If Oprah can keep this aspect in mind, she can certainly bring her farm into a much more profitable future.

I strongly believe that Oprah can do a great deal with the action of growing organic crops. When you think about it, she should be the most successful since she's one of the most noteworthy people in the world. Along with the various, not to mention copious, resources that she has as well, I don't think that profits are going to be a concern for her. She has to make sure that she operates her marketplace in a way that appeals to every potential audience you could think of.
